According to a global survey by Dext, a digital accounting platform, small and medium businesses are seeing more value in working in close tandem with accountants in a “business partner” capacity.

Access to real-time data makes an experienced accounting partner’s skillset and constantly evolving technologies necessary for well-timed and predictable growth. Younger founders are especially utilizing virtual CFOs according to the data with 90% in the 18-34 year-old range saying this approach to key metrics is very important, and 88% of 35-44 year-olds feeling the same way.

More so than bookkeepers, financial planners, and business consultants, those polled felt accountants were the best sources to help with tax planning as well.

In addition, the vast majority of businesses believe thorough financial planning is crucial to desired growth. The 31.7 million existing SMBs are integral to the US economy employing 58.9 million people. Providing these businesses the support and tools to succeed is a keystone of choosing a finance and accounting partner.
